Winter Wonderland

I have to say, I really love my neighborhood—and I really love a good snowfall. Earlier today, I bundled up and headed out for a run/tromp through the freshly fallen snow around Victorian Village and the nearby Short North. Aside from the occasional grinding of spinning tires and ice scrapers, there is something so peaceful about the way the icy fluff muffles the otherwise noisy sounds of the city, and the way it illuminates the sky at night. Anyhow, just thought I would take a few minutes to post a few images I shot today during my little trek.

And while on the topic of winter and snow, I thought I'd post a few pics from a recent trip out to Colorado to visit a friend.
These were all taken just outside of Denver on the way to, or in Breckenridge where we went skiing for a couple days. FUN!

Wedding Month on Daytime Columbus with Gail Hogan!

Hey everyone—just wanted to put up a quick video post of a broadcast this morning on NBC for the Daytime Columbus show.
As many of you brides-to-be and past brides are aware, January and February are considered the most popular months for engagements and the beginning of wedding planning. So to kick that off, Gail Hogan has been interviewing various wedding vendors in the Columbus area for tips and ideas. I was very excited to be featured on the show along with Courtney Leister of Girls in White Dresses in the beautiful Arena District (www.girlsinwhitedresses.com), and a couple of her models showcasing customizable couture gowns.
What a fun morning! Part 2 of the wedding photography segment will be airing at the end of January.

And just a little note about the video—the on-air "supers" of the image samples shown on "scrapbook pages" aren't actually part of my album layouts, just something that the television production team put together.
:)

Ok, with that said, thanks for tuning in!

Laura and Derek

Well, I rounded out the holiday wedding week by photographing another fabulous winter wedding for the new Mr. and Mrs. Derek Purvis.
Laura and Derek have been dating for about 7 years I believe—so this big day was a long awaited one!

Laura was absolutely GORGEOUS, and as you can see, has the most beautiful porcelain skin—I could have
spent all day doing pictures—but we sort of had a wedding to tend to!

Derek plays hockey, and I'm pretty sure he had most of his team there with him cheering him on as he tied the knot—a fun (albeit rowdy!) crowd to have at the reception.

Here are a few more sneak peeks of their big day:

Congratulations Laura and Derek!

Bridal Show 2009!

Hey brides and grooms! I just wanted to say thank you so much to all of you that came out to the show, and especially to the ones that took the time to stop by my booth! I had so much fun meeting so many of you and look forward to meeting with many of you again in the next few weeks.

Also, another special thanks to my friends and "helpers" Marit, Tiffany and Laura who helped me out during the show. Tiffany was one of my former brides that I had the awesome opportunity to photograph in Mexico last year for her destination wedding, and came out all the way from Utah to share her wedding experience with brides-to-be.

And I certainly can't forget Brett from Aurora Exhibit Solutions. (www.aurora-exhibits.com) Thank you SOO very much for all your help setting up the display. It all turned out great and the booth certainly wouldn't be what it was without your generosity.

And last but certainly not least, to my parents, (also my number one fans) for helping with the set up, tear down, and daily de-stressing. Ok, you'd think that'd I'd just won an Oscar or something with all the "i'd like to thank all the people that made this possible..."...ha haa. Just so many people helped me out, and it's soo truly appreciated.

Tiffanni and Judd Ring in the New Year!

Congrats to Tiffanni and Judd Ballard! I had the pleasure of photographing their wedding and New Year's Eve celebration last night at the historic St. Leo's Church in Merion Village, and the Event Place in the Campus Gateway District. And what a fun day it was!

I met the girls over at Studio Fovero in German Village for a bit while they were sipping champaign and beautifying for the evening ahead. I then met the guys over at a local favorite watering hole, Easy Street Cafe for some cool casual pics.

Aside from fun, the other word that comes to mind is FREEZING! Nonetheless, Tiffanni braved the icy breeze for a few shots outside with some nice soft natural light.

And no New Year's Eve celebration is complete without a balloon or ball drop, right? So Tiffanni and Judd managed one of their own. So cheers and Happy New Year to both of you and all your wonderful families and friends! I had a ball shooting your wedding and thanks again for trusting me with the memories of your day!
