Alaina + Jared Tie the Knot!

Congrats to the newly hitched Jared and Alaina Perry! This couple has already been together for over 10 years! They've started as highschool sweethearts, now here they are - so sweet!

There are so many wonderful things I could say about my brief time that i've known this couple - such genuinely kind, thoughtful and sweet people. So lucky that Alaina and her mom found me - I couldn't have been more excited to document she and Jared's gorgeous day.

So, I have to start with this incredible gown by Amsale. LOVE.

We had just the most beautiful warm natural light in the dressing room at the church - Alaina was glowing!

Sooo happy!

I have so many wonderful pictures to sort through and haven't really begun with the reception pics. Will have to post some details of that as well - amazing desserts, center pieces, old fashioned popcorn cart - lotsa goodies, so check back soon!

Michelle + Tyler: Married!

Congrats to the newly hitched and beautiful Michelle and Tyler Amos! What an absolutely perfect day it was - and yes, it was absolutely wet and dreary for most of it. No matter though! This bride and groom were easy breezy and went with the flow and we got some gorgeous pics inside the incredible newly renovated St. Paul Catholic Church, had some fun with an umbrella outside, then patience eventually gave way to a few dry moments and a beautiful sunset later. Here are a few highlights from the day:

I'm so excited about all the images from this wedding! Can't wait to get through the rest and get them posted on pictage here in a few weeks or so. A huge thank you to Michelle and Tyler and both of their families - such a wonderful group of people and I feel lucky to have been a part of this huge celebration.

Wedding at The BlueStone - Sneak Peek!

So I kicked off the spring wedding season this past Saturday with a shoot at The BlueStone (formerly BoMA). First impression - WONDERFUL! I highly recommend this venue, as well as the staff and catering from Creative Cuisine!

Looong time no post...

So, much has been happening behind the scenes here. I've been working on everything from improving internal workflow, client communication, website updates, new product offerings, some new personal and commercial work, finishing albums for all of my 2010 wedding clients, and getting ready for yet another amazing wedding season! Cliché as it sounds, I'm not sure where the time went during my "wedding gap". I do however, feel refreshed and so excited for what this season holds for all of my clients! I've spent quite a bit of time experimenting, learning and just trying to get better and better at what I do.

So I headed out earlier this week to test shoot a new location for an upcoming wedding. The BlueStone (formally BoMA, now under new and improved management) is a very cool and unique venue with a LOT of possibilities for those of you out there still looking for a chic downtown spot. My friend, and wonderful makeup artist and model, Melissa Roshan, helped me out with the shoot and I'm excited to share some of the images we ended up with. So much fun to be able to just practice and play.

Ringing in the New Year with Jacquie + Jeff!

Congrats to the newly married Jacquie and Jeffrey Susie! Please let me just start by saying how much FUN this couple is! I truly had a blast working with them and their crew of family and friends all day.

If it isn't obvious by the photos, Jacquie works in the fashion industry and wanted a vintage "old hollywood" feel to her NYE wedding bash. I do believe she pulled it off flawlessly, starting with her vintage Vera Wang bridal gown from Big Rock Little Rooster.Successfully channeling Marilyn Monroe, Jacquie rocked this dress - and the whole look down to her shoes and jewelry. Simply gorgeous.

And I certainly can't forget to mention the groom! He looked great as well - loved the simple straight cut suits and narrow ties. Very sharp.

So after the ceremony, the bride and groom as well as their wedding party took a little trolley ride through downtown. I had them stop at the corner of Broad + High to get a few quick and casual group shots in front of the marquees (a la NYE in Times Square - seemed fitting for the occasion!) To our lovely surprise we were greeted by Maria Durant, newscaster for Channel 6. She was doing a piece on NYE celebrations and ended up interviewing Jacquie and Jeff! Awesomeness.

Suzie + David - Fabulous Fall Wedding!

Congrats to the newly hitched Suzie and David! This wedding was the perfect example of love really being in the details. Suzie happens to be a very talented graphic designer and put her creative skills to work when making everything! I loved the color palette and style of the bridesmaids dresses - with accents of warm tones and golds. Suzie is gorgeous, and just the sweetest person you could meet. We actually met several years ago through our careers in the advertising world, and have a few mutual friends so I was sooo very excited and flattered when she contacted me to shoot their wedding!

My favorite of course, is the popcorn bar display...love it! How could one resist?

It was a beautiful wedding and a perfect night! Thanks again to both of you and your families for having me be part of the big day.

One of the things I love so much about this profession is how different each wedding really is. It definitely never gets boring! It's so much fun to see how each couple's wedding comes together through their own style, details and decor. Even 2 weddings with a similar color palette and theme (deep plums and purples were very popular this year), each still unique in their interpretations and execution of those ideas.

So moving on to one of these fabulous weddings...Amanda and Mike! Amanda was one stunning and fashionable bride! Her dress, by Big Rock Little Rooster in the Short North, was just simply perfect for her. Classic and beautiful, and accessorized with a one-of-a-kind necklace from Collier West. Her hairpiece also from Collier West, but was a custom designed piece just for her wedding - how cool!

Quinnie Turns One!

So I can't believe that it's now been over a month since my last post...and what a busy month it's been! I have so much to update! First of all though, I've been really excited to post some pics from a baby shoot that I did of my very dear friend, Rachael's, adorable cutie-pie daughter Quinn. I was in Frankfurt, Germany visiting last month and we went out exploring their new neighborhood. I loved Germany and had a wonderful visit! I think I ate enough Nutella, soft pretzels, and schnitzel to last me awhile. So far, I think Frankfurt is agreeing with lil' miss Quinnie as well—or maybe it's just the fact that there is a backerei (bakery) on every corner it seems.

Jaclyn + Ed Say "We do!"

Congrats to the newly hitched Ed and Jaclyn Samuels! I just loved this couple from the moment I met them. Well admittedly, I suppose that I have a tendency to be partial to fellow OU Bobcats right away, so they had that going for them! They got married and had their reception at Brookside Country Club in Worthington. I just love this place. I had shot an evening winter wedding reception here before, but never got a chance to see quite how beautiful the grounds were. Kudos to the staff there as well - the food was great and the people there were so nice and on the ball!

They are just as sweet as they are cute too - and sure know how to throw a good party and have fun! Check out some of those dance moves!

Yet another amazing wedding day this month! I just LOVE this couple and I loved everything about this wedding. From the ceremony downtown at Trinity Episcopalian to their elegant and FUN rooftop reception at the Renaissance Hotel. This might be one of my new favorite venues! Well new to ME anyhow.

These first few photos are from their "first look." These never fail to be some of my favorite pictures of any couple's wedding day. There is something so sweet about allowing the couple to act on their emotions and excitement with hugs and smooches when they first see each other. These two just seem to have so much fun together - a whole lotta smiles this day!

July - WOW...you came and went...but WOW did you ever keep DeeAnne and I busy! Every weekend booked and 2 double headers makes for a fun but hard working month! So worth it though! I walked away from July with some incredible work - and many new friends!

Dave proposed to Marit on a recently trip up to Maine, where her family has a cottage and has been vacationing for years. I absolutely love this quote. Jill and Brian used this on the beautifully designed luggage tag place cards they handmade for each of their guests. This wedding in their mutual tiny hometown of Coldwater, Ohio (where Brian first discovered he had a crush on Jill back in middle school) was every bit a labor of love. Jill, a clothing designer by profession, and her mom literally transformed their town's local American Legion hall into one of the most beautiful and elegantly designed reception spaces I've ever seen (and I've been to a LOT of weddings!) I don't think there was a single detail overlooked. From the table settings, to the wall draperies, lighting, chandelier and bar decor, it was fabulous.

What's even more fabulous was the fact that Jill wore her grandmother's wedding gown — with a few alterations that her mother was able to do. Talk about 3 generations of teamwork! jill definitely pulled off the vintage look perfectly.

And what's even more fabulous than anything else are Jill and Brian in general. I couldn't have asked for more laid back, fun, gracious and stunning people than these two. Thanks again so much for hiring me and trusting me with your big day! I hope that you love your sneak peek - I know I sure do!

The church was incredible.

So, one of the sweetest things I've seen at a wedding reception — a groom singing a song he wrote just for his wife on their wedding day. Beautifully done Adam - you definitely have a wonderful talent. I'm certainly no videographer, but as I was photographing this incredible moment, I thought to myself that this was just one thing that wouldn't be completely captured in a few frames. So here is a quick spur of the moment video clip from this super sweet moment. Congrats to both of you.

The new Paul and Jenny Carter got hitched last Saturday at Xenos Christian Fellowship. Wow, this wedding was definitely a tear jerker, but all tears of joy. What an amazing couple, these two. This was definitely one of the most emotional ceremonies I've had the privilege of attending.

I met Alex about a year ago after she had found me on TheKnot.com I believe. I loved her immediately - she had such a genuinely sweet demeanor about her. Always all smiles on this happy bride-to-be. I know that she and Josh put so much into the planning of their big day. The had their ceremony at the Mother of Mercy Chapel at St. Charles and their reception at the always beautiful Creekside in Gahanna. Speaking of which, I cannot say enough good things about the coordinator there, Katherine Howes! Always a class act and a pleasure to work with.

I just LOVE this chapel. It's such a beautiful little hidden gem of a place. It's actually inside St. Charles and it's gorgeous.

I also always love to see the bride and groom having fun at the ceremony. It seems so often that the formal church ceremonies are so serious! Nice to see some laughter!

And they're officially hitched!

Alex has such a pretty profile - I love this shot of her. It's just so feminine and well...pretty!

Congrats again you two! Thanks so much to you and your families for such a great day. In a city with so many great photographers, it's always such a great honor to be chosen by a couple to shoot their wedding, and Alex and Josh were certainly no exception.

Brieanne & Justin - Downhome chic!

Congrats to the newly wedded Brieanne and Justin McKinniss! I am so very excited to post these pics today. There are sooo many images yet to go through, but I was most excited about all things related to the style and mood of the whole day.

This adorable couple got hitched at the original Bob Evan's Farm down in Gallipolis, Ohio. There was not a single detail overlooked at this classy yet casual affair. Justin (yes, the groom!) actually designed and made the invitations, programs and hand-painted signs himself. I must say I was impressed! The bar at the reception was the cutest one I've ever seen at a wedding. Martha would be proud.

This venue isn't one that is ordinarily available to the general public unfortunately. Justin's father has worked for Bob Evan's for over 30 years — which allowed for this fabulous and unique event location.

Kacey & Adam

Havin' fun rain or shine, Kacey, Adam and I headed out for their engagement shoot this afternoon in Goodale Park (where Adam proposed!) and then onto German Village for a few more pics at one of their favorite little almost hidden spots, Frank Fetch Park.

Kacey and Adam met way back in high school, but reconnected again about 4 or 5 years ago...and well, I suppose the rest is history!

Meet Kelly and Ben. Such a fun couple whom I met through a few mutual friends awhile back. Actually, they were also guests at another wedding that I photographed back in October, for Melanie and Joe Bilyk. This shot was from that reception at Taylor Mansion— I just love the way Ben is looking at his lovely bride-to-be!

We had a perfect day for shooting last week over at Jeffrey Mansion in Bexley. Beautiful blooms and gorgeous light. Kelly was rockin' the cutest dress too!

Ashley & Scott

What a perfect spring day for a wedding! Though a bit on the chilly side, this past Saturday couldn't have been more beautiful for Ashley and Scott's big day. I'm going to keep this relatively short and sweet as I have a TON of photos to post (i had a hard time narrowing down and I haven't even scratched the surface of the ceremony or reception yet!)

This adorable couple chose to have both their ceremony and reception at The Darby House. If you've never been here, it's such a fabulous backdrop for photographs, especially right now with the bright green buds and purple and pink blooms everywhere. Which, was so perfect for their color scheme. The staff at The Darby House is top notch as well - I highly recommend it!

Here are just a couple images from a series that we shot of their first look. Was so sweet.

I could go on and on about the day and all of the beautiful and unique details that Ashley put together, but am going to wrap up with a big fat THANK YOU to both Ashley and Scott for hiring me and trusting me with your wedding day. 2010 Wedding Season...

...is officially booked solid. I've just booked the last wedding that I am going to accept for the rest of 2010 so that I can continue to give 100% to each of my clients. So thank you to everyone that has chosen to give me the honor of being part of your big day!
And it truly is just that, an honor. I'm still taking on a few portrait clients through the end of the year, but as far as weddings, I'm only continuing to book for 2011.

Alex and Dan's Wedding Weekend

Wow! What an incredible weekend. Truly. The new Mr. and Mrs. Dan Street got hitched this past weekend in their current hometown of Charlottesville, VA. There is just so much that I could share about this weekend — the people, the incredible weather, the Sunday wine tasting at the Veritas Winery...oh yeah, and the wedding itself!

This was actually my second wedding with the bride's family. Just a few years ago I had the honor of flying all the way out to Boulder, Colorado to photograph the wedding of Alex's sister Lauren. So needless to say, from the time that my assistant DeeAnne and I arrived, to the moment we left on Sunday afternoon, we felt right at home with everyone. It was so much fun to see so many warm, smiling and familiar faces again!

We started the weekend off at the Veritas Vineyard and Winery for an informal relaxed portrait session. I had no idea that Virginia has the second largest population of vineyards and wineries in the country (just behind the Napa/Sonoma areas of Northern California). It was absolutely gorgeous. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a fun and relaxing long weekend getaway.

And shortly before the ceremony, I was able to catch this sweet moment of Alex's mom helping her dad practice for the father/daughter dance. I wish I had a picture like this of my own parents. Just love it.

Today has been one of those days where I've been playing catch up and trying to conquer my unending list of "to-dos" that otherwise seems nearly impossible in the midst of high wedding season. These snowy days have been pretty therapeutic and helpful to me in getting a good start on one of my biggest projects — a much needed facelift and update to my website. It's been overwhelming, yet SOO much fun going through the past 18 months of new work I've been so blessed to have. Well, while sifting through an even older folder of images from 2008, I ran across this image of Tom and Brooke Kelsey of San Francisco. I shot their wedding back in September of 2008 (many of you might recognize them from my website) but this is from their engagement shoot in Cleveland months prior to that. This image just really made me pause and smile, and thought I'd post and see if it might do the same for any of you blog-followers out there.

So a belated Happy Valentine's Day to Brooke and Tom and all the other lovely couples I have the pleasure of working with.
Thanks for allowing me to pursue what I consider to be the best job on the world.

Kara and Scott - There is Love Here

What a beautiful and perfect day for a winter wedding! Kara and Scott tied the knot at St. John the Baptist in Italian Village and
got their groove on at their reception at Confluence Park downtown. Kara and Scott are such a fun couple and so easy to be around. It's obvious that they adore each other and have a blast together! A favorite phrase that one of Kara's bridesmaids always says to them couldn't be more accurate "There is love here".

So the day started with Kara and her girls up at Polaris at the Charles Penzone Salon — getting all dolled up is fun!

So Kara and Scott had a special choreographed dance to MJ's "The Way You Make Me Feel" for their first dance as hubby and wife. I have to say, I was impressed!

Erika and Ryan - Engagement Session

Brrrr! Seems that's all I've been saying lately but there is something so crisp and clear about the light in the wintertime. I love photographing in it. For Erika and Ryan's engagement session last Sunday we decided to brave the frigid temperatures and head out to the frozen Hayden Falls for some gorgeous outdoor snowy pics.

I think the falls might be more beautiful frozen than free flowing.

Katie and Cole's Wedding

A huge congrats to the newly wedded Katie and Cole Graham! What an absolutely gorgeous (albeit freeeezing) day it was to kick off 2010 and a brand new season of weddings! I really couldn't say enough wonderful things about this couple and their families. Katie in particular is really one of those people that is truly beautiful inside and out. You don't have to be around her long to feel at ease and get a sense of her generous and genuine spirit. She definitely was a glowing bride!

Katie and Cole got married at Bexley United Methodist on Broad Street and had a beautiful formal reception at the Hilton at Easton accompanied by The Conspiracy Band. They were AWESOME!

I just love this shot and the way Katie is looking at her new hubby.

Later that night we snuck away from the reception for a bit to grab some more portraits. We all saw the piano right away and agreed that it was definitely going to be part of this shoot. Well done you guys, you look fabulous!

There are definitely a lot more pictures where these came from, but I just thought I'd wrap up this post with a couple that summed up the vibe of the evening. Katie with her mom and sister takin' the mic — they were having so much fun up there!

Thailand

Hello friends, family, future and current brides and grooms! I was so busy wrapping up work before I left for my 3-week tour through Thailand and Laos (which has been LOVELY!) that I forgot to leave on a message on my blog. I will be unavailable for the most part until December 19h to tend to any order or booking requests. I will be doing my best to respond to all of my voicemails and emails within a week from when I return. The trip has been amaaaazing thusfar and a much needed break and rejuvenation, not to mention some incredible visual inspiration. Oh how I would LOVE to shoot a wedding here! Hillary and Greg

Please let me begin this post by saying that I loved everything about this wedding. I mean everything. The flowers and detail decor were amazing. Hillary's dress was even more amazing (Maggie Sottero). Not to mention the yummy Sunday brunch followed by their incredible cake. It was a piece of art. But above all these beautiful things that went into this perfect day were the people of course. Starting with Hillary and Greg. Really and truly such a beautiful couple inside and out. They're the kind of people that just make you feel good to be around.

Ok, so on with the part that you really care about —the pics! I had such a hard time narrowing down just a few to post to give just a sneak peek at their beautiful gallery of images we got from this perfect day!

I just LOVED these flowers. This bouquet requires 2 images because I really wanted to show the cool ribbon and leaf detail underneath. I've never seen a bouquet done like this. I need to ask Hillary again for the name of her florist.

Seth's Senior Pics

This shoot was an especially fun one for me, as Seth lives next door to my brother and niece and nephew. He's pretty much grown up with them over the past 6 years or so, and they just look up to and love him so much. For that matter, the entire Dunne family. I was definitely honored to do this. I was so glad to have Seth's girlfriend, Rachel, along for the shoot. I couldn't resist getting some of the two of them. Ahhh, young love! Aren't they just adorable together? This just makes me smile.

Brieanne and Justin - Engagement Shoot

Slowly but surely I am getting caught up. Whew.12 days and counting until I leave for a 3-week getaway to R&R&R&R (rest, relax, recuperate and recharge!) By the time I get back it will be Christmas and then almost time to hit the ground running again for a pretty busy winter wedding season!

In the meantime, I'll keep editing photos, designing albums and blogging away with all the fab couples I am so fortunate to photograph. Brieanne and Justin being one of those! They're getting married out at the Bob Evan's Farms property in Gallipolis next year. If you aren't familiar, it's really beautiful. I actually did a story on it back in college for our local magazine. These two are very easy and fun to be around and I'm really looking forward to their wedding!

And ya know when you look at a couple that just seems to "go together"? That's how I see Brieanne and Justin. They're just so cute together and seem to be a perfect match inside and out.

A big congrats to the newly wedded Hayden and Aly Johnston! This adorable couple met in college at Ohio University.(My beloved alma mater—go bobcats!) They got hitched last month at the Bexley United Methodist Church and partied the night away at the gorgeous Walters Commons of St. Charles Prep. Such a beautiful space! Mike and Briana's Wedding

I've been so excited to post these images from Mike and Briana Virgil's wedding at Franklin Park Conservatory last month. Despite the unexpected frigid weather, we got some beautiful shots outside and ended up with an amazing sunset later on that evening. I have always absolutely loved the Franklin Park Conservatory and was so excited to shoot here!

Well it's been awhile since I have posted any engagement sessions on here so I thought I would start with a few pics from Steve Eastlake and Falon Donohue's engagement session at Taylor Mansion a few weeks ago. We had such an incredibly perfect fall day and the colors and lighting were incredible (not to mention the cute couple). I just love Falon's casual boho-chic style too! Can't wait for their 60's inspired wedding in August.
