Alex and Dan's Wedding Weekend

Wow! What an incredible weekend. Truly. The new Mr. and Mrs. Dan Street got hitched this past weekend in their current hometown of Charlottesville, VA. There is just so much that I could share about this weekend — the people, the incredible weather, the Sunday wine tasting at the Veritas Winery...oh yeah, and the wedding itself!

This was actually my second wedding with the bride's family. Just a few years ago I had the honor of flying all the way out to Boulder, Colorado to photograph the wedding of Alex's sister Lauren. So needless to say, from the time that my assistant DeeAnne and I arrived, to the moment we left on Sunday afternoon, we felt right at home with everyone. It was so much fun to see so many warm, smiling and familiar faces again!

We started the weekend off at the Veritas Vineyard and Winery for an informal relaxed portrait session. I had no idea that Virginia has the second largest population of vineyards and wineries in the country (just behind the Napa/Sonoma areas of Northern California). It was absolutely gorgeous. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a fun and relaxing long weekend getaway.

And shortly before the ceremony, I was able to catch this sweet moment of Alex's mom helping her dad practice for the father/daughter dance. I wish I had a picture like this of my own parents. Just love it.

Sooo in love!

Sooo happy!

So content.

There are soo many more images to go through, but I just wanted to pull a few quickly that jumped out to me and get a little sneak peek together for Alex and Dan's wedding. Thanks SO much to the Kyser family in particular for trusting me yet again with all the images of your daughter/sister's wedding. It was such and honor and a blessing to be down there with you all.

Congrats again to Alex and Dan!!! I'm sure you're having a blast in Costa Rica!

Thailand

Hello friends, family, future and current brides and grooms! I was so busy wrapping up work before I left for my 3-week tour through Thailand and Laos (which has been LOVELY!) that I forgot to leave on a message on my blog. I will be unavailable for the most part until December 19h to tend to any order or booking requests. I will be doing my best to respond to all of my voicemails and emails within a week from when I return. The trip has been amaaaazing thusfar and a much needed break and rejuvenation, not to mention some incredible visual inspiration. Oh how I would LOVE to shoot a wedding here! Ok, greetings from Thailand and I will be in touch as soon as I can upon my arrival back to the states. Thanks!

Hillary and Greg

Please let me begin this post by saying that I loved everything about this wedding. I mean everything. The flowers and detail decor were amazing. Hillary's dress was even more amazing (Maggie Sottero). Not to mention the yummy Sunday brunch followed by their incredible cake. It was a piece of art. But above all these beautiful things that went into this perfect day were the people of course. Starting with Hillary and Greg. Really and truly such a beautiful couple inside and out. They're the kind of people that just make you feel good to be around.

Ok, so on with the part that you really care about —the pics! I had such a hard time narrowing down just a few to post to give just a sneak peek at their beautiful gallery of images we got from this perfect day!

I just LOVED these flowers. This bouquet requires 2 images because I really wanted to show the cool ribbon and leaf detail underneath. I've never seen a bouquet done like this. I need to ask Hillary again for the name of her florist.

An absolutely gorgeous bride.

and the groom's not too shabby either
:)

Thank you so much to both of you and your families. DeeAnne and I had such a wonderful time and as always, I'm so thankful that you chose me to photograph your engagement and wedding day. Can't wait for you to see the rest of the images!

Brianna and Steven - Engagement Session

As I continue to look back on all the shoots I've done and add more blog posts, I'm reminded of how lucky and blessed I am to be doing this for a living. I have the best clients. Really. So I just wanted to say thanks so much to all of you (you know who you are!) for continuing to trust me with documenting the most important times in your life! Thank you for allowing me to pursue and dedicate my life to something that I really and truly love to do.

With that said, here are some more of my favorite images from another fun shoot I did in September with Brianna and Steven over at Easton on a perfect Sunday afternoon. Have I mentioned how much I love fall too? Ok, enjoy the pics!

Jill and Brian's Engagement Session

Oh HAPPY DAY! What a wonderful way to kick off the photo-filled holiday weekend than with a beauuuuutiful session on Friday morning with a super cute couple, Jill and Brian.

So often I do evening shoots (because of the lovely soft sunset light of the "golden hour"), but I have to say how much I enjoyed this gorgeous morning sunshine mixed with the lovely woodsy surroundings. More than anything though, what really "makes" any shoot a success though, in my opinion, is the couple's ability to really relax in front of the camera and just "be together" and allowing me to just take a step back and do what I strive to do best — capture you naturally. I LOVE fashion and portraiture, but It's capturing the little moments— the smiles, cuddles, giggles and general affection between people that really makes my heart flip and my cheeks hurt!

And that's what this session with Jill and Brian did for me — so thanks so much you guys! I had a blast with you both and can't wait until your wedding next summer!

Breanna and Dan

What an amazing weekend. Wow! First of all I have to take a moment to say THANK YOU to the newly wedded Dan and Breanna Watkins for flying me all the way out to one of the most beautiful places in the country to photograph your even more beautiful wedding! It was definitely an incredible experience that I won't soon forget. And I certainly can't forget to mention another huge thank you to my cousin Maegan who referred me to Breanna almost two years ago!

We created hundreds of stunning images throughout the weekend, but here are a few more sneak peeks of the wedding:

Breanna just after she slipped on her dress. Such a pretty bride!

The lovely bridal party strikin' a pose for me in a hot hot sun-filled field.

The ceremony with a breathtaking view of the lake and sierras.

Time to pop open the bubbly!

The wedding was held at the Edgewood club right on the water. It was such a unique venue and Breanna pulled together some awesome details.

A sunset smooch to wrap up the shoot! Breanna's veil got soaked but we thought it made for a cool image!

I will likely be posting some additional images here shortly, but for now I'm going to get some shut eye. Again, thank you SOOO much Breanna and Dan!! Todd and I had an amazing time with you and both of your families and friends! I couldn't have imagined a more perfect weekend. Congrats to you both!
